Reading is one of lifes greatest joys especially when dropped into a world completely different to your own and experiencing someone elses good times from the comfort of your own chair. Here are a few of my favourite books that I’ve read recently.
The tiny archipelago of the Azores are a set of mystical islands set half way into the Atlantic. After a four and a half hour flight from Porto we catch sight. These tiny pinpricks as seen from the sky belie the grand mountains that lie beneath the ocean. They were created fifteen millennia ago by volcanos and wikipedia tells me that they are taller than Everest if measured from sea bed to tip. I will take its word.
We have become addicted to hiking.
You see, walking is really really wonderful. Especially when there aren’t any great big hills and there are lovely little towns with friendly coffee shops along the way.
My favourite places to travel to are those that aren’t well known. I love to find the secret places that only the locals know about and that are definitely off the tourist trail. Okay, so Norway is definitely on the tourist trail, at least the Fjords are, but what is going on in the rest of the country?
